Chesterfield boss James Rowe says he will not be ‘resting on his laurels’ after the Spireites moved into the National League play-off positions for the first time this season.

Town climbed up to seventh after beating Weymouth on Saturday thanks to Tom Whelan’s first-half strike.

It was the Blues’ third win and clean sheet on the bounce and it means they go into Good Friday’s clash against play-off rivals Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium full of confidence.

“We know the different challenges that this league is going to pose and now we are seventh we have got to be delighted,” Rowe said.

“I am excited about what the future is but what I won’t do is rest on my laurels.

“If you are in the top seven it signifies you are on the right journey but there is no point being in the top seven now and dropping out on the last game of the season.

“We have got to make sure we secure that play-off place as early as possible if we can - that is the target - and then see what we can do after that.
