Country traditions pull in the crowds at the Bakewell Show

Waiting for Video...

The Bakewell Show has pulled in the crowds once again - and there’s plenty more on offer for visitors on the final day of the event today (Thursday).

Show director Janet Bailey said a new competition called ‘Show Us Your Sheep’ had proved a big hit, and was certain to return next year. Entrants were invited to create outlandish-looking models of the animals.

“We’ve had an amazing response to that,” she said.

“People are so imaginative, especially children.”

The show’s Food and Farming section is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, with all the traditional stalls too, Janet added.

“It’s always a popular place for people,” she said.

Pigeons, poultry and sheep are being judged today. Pictured are Lucy Hollingworth, Hannah Haywood and Laura Hooper. More pictures www.sheffieldtelegaph.co.uk
