Decision makes a farce of democracy

My name is Elliot Hoole and I live on Chatsworth Road, Rowsley.

I was at the council meeting on Thursday evening, and I must say that the whole thing was a charade.

The needs of a minority have been prioritised above the wishes of every single resident of Rowsley, and this makes a farce of our so called democracy.

To be told the site will cost tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money to develop is simply a disgrace of the highest order.

The council is not fit to be responsible for any sum of money if this is how they propose to spend it.

We see this type of injustice on a daily basis, and the working class man has grown tired of the mainstream political system ignoring our views.

Having been an avid political supporter there was once a time that I wanted a career in politics, but I really do not know how any of you can sleep at night knowing that you trample on the democratic rights of an entire village.

Is this why you came into politics?

You told us the family refused council houses because this is not their culture.

Well, it is not our culture to live in caravans, and if they do not like it they should leave.

It is in my culture to eat beef, but if I lived in India I would not dream of insisting that a cow is killed so I can eat beef because I am a minority and I should respect the cultural will of the majority.

I am tired of minorities telling the majority how to act and what to think.

I pray every night for the day that the United Kingdom leaves the unelected European Union dictatorship and closes its doors to anyone who might wish to trample all over our culture by refusing to integrate into our society, adopting the accepted ways of behaving and living.

I pray for an end to the intolerant liberal pursuit of multiculturalism, and the persecution of all those whose opinion is against it.

I say, vote for UK independence.

This decision is an utter disgrace and a complete whitewash, shame on you all who voted for it.

You do not love this country or its traditions, like I do.
