Jubilee bench

A tired old bench has been replaced with a new one in honour of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth.

The committee of Whatstandwell Social Club installed the new bench in Main Road, in commemoration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Clive Ludlum, clerk to Crich Parish Council, helped the club get permission from Derbyshire County Council to replace the old bench and a plaque has been placed on it to mark the anniversary of the Queen’s 60th year on the thrown.

In the future the committee hopes to put up an information board detailing the village’s four transport modes that go through the valley of road, rail, canal and river.

They also plan to cut down the scrub trees obscuring the view of the valley.
