Football crazy

WHEN it comes to being dedicated football fans – this group certainly takes the biscuit.

The intrepid quintet of Matlock Town supporters left the Dales in March 1979 to watch their team play Pisa in what could only be described as a blizzard.

Tom Oliver, John Lord, Roy Marchant, Tom Wright and Ian Cameron voyaged to the sunny shores of Italy via Luton Airport.

However, an assortment of weather related delays meant the group arrived 23 hours later than expected.

They did manage to catch the match, though. But unfortunately for this group of lads – Matlock Town FC lost 2-1 to Pisa.
