THIS photograph shows the Matlock Green floods of 1931.

With water filling the streets, shopkeepers and their children look on in disbelief as the floods encroach on to their premises.

Despite the devastation that surrounds the people in this photograph, though, their shop windows remain smartly stocked and there’s even a few smiling faces to be seen.
