Taking a slight break from the Jubilee theme, this photograph shows the residents of Middleton-by-Wirksworth celebrating the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth on May 12 1937.
The photograph was accompanied by a programme for the day’s events which details a variety of activities that people got involved with.
Party-goers began the day with a divine service on the Green, followed by a procession, sports events, teas, a fancy dress carnival, prize presentation, bonfire lighting and the day drew to an end with a flood-lit open air dance on the Green.
