The beautifully landscaped grounds behind the Whitworth Institute have been a popular recreational area for generations of local people, as both a family destination and a quiet retreat for the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The park is still used today by local people and visitors alike.
The picture was used as a postcard and looks to be from around the early 1900s.
