Team in charity swim

NINE members of a sports team took to the icy waters of the River Derwent to raise more than £1,300 for a good cause.

Matlock Water Polo Club presented the money to Mary White from the Chesterfield–based Tiny Tim Trust at the team’s Christmas dinner.

Members raised the money by completing a sponsored 1,500 metre swim in the river at Matlock Bath earlier in the year.

Mary commented: “This could provide two to three wheel chairs and is a tremendous boost to us.”

Club president Jim Evans also took part the Great North Swim in the Lake District, raising £200 towards the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Tiny Tim Trust supports children with special needs across Derbyshire, further information is available by visiting www.tinytimtrust.org.uk

Any charities looking from support from Matlock Water Polo Club are asked to call 07814711372 for more details.
