Making his Mark

Mark Gwynne-Jones

Mark Gwynne-Jones

Mark Gwynne Jones will host a performance and workshop at Derby-based arts centre Quad later this month.

Matlock-based Mark, who has featured on BBC Radio Four’s Wondermentalist Cabaret, will be observing the connections between clocks, cats and light bulbs in his new show, entitled Just for a Moment.... which can be seen on November 17.

“This is it!” said Mark. “All that exists is this moment…plus the 1,001 things you’ve invented to distract you from it.”

Well known for surreal narratives with an almost music hall edge, Mark will invite the audience to feel the moment in a mind-altering show that’s both funny and thought provoking. The event will also premiere a new film made in collaboration with film-maker and animator Mike Futcher.

Mark will perform ‘Just for a Moment...’ on Saturday, November 17, at 7pm. Tickets are £8 (£7 concessions).

Mark will also be hosting an afternoon workshop at Quad. The workshop, Creating Visual Metaphors, will explore the sounds of words, how and why we think in pictures and games to unlock the imagination.

This fun, creative workshop is aimed at providing inspiration for budding writers, performers and poets but is open to anyone aged 14 years and above. Creating Visual Metaphor Workshop with Mark Gwynne Jones takes place on Saturday, November 17, from 1pm until 3.30pm and tickets are £6, or £5 concessions.

Please note that those purchasing tickets for both Workshop and Performance events can do so for the special offer price of £12, or £11 concessions.

For more information on both events, or to book seats, see www.derbyquad.co.uk/special-event/mark-gwynne-jones-just-moment or call 01332 290606.
