A VANDAL is believed to have severed an artery while smashing a glass door at a Dales house.
Police are trying to trace the man after the incident on Dale Road in Matlock, at 3.30am on Sunday morning.

Pc Wendy Foxon said: "A man's punched a glass panel in a door at a property a few doors down from Harvey's Wine Bar.

"But in the process he's caused himself a serious injury and we think he's severed an artery," she said.

The man went to Harvey's Wine Bar seeking medical help and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The police were not called at the time.

Pc Foxon said: "It may be that someone will know this man's name and I'm hoping lots of people will come forward."

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact 0845 123 3333.
