An all-singing, all-dancing arts festival is underway with large crowds enjoying top class entertainment in Bakewell.
An open-air performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night launched Bakewell Art Festival on Wednesday before an interpretative dance show on Friday night and live bands in the town centre on Saturday.

Organiser Janette Hockley-Webster was delighted with the first week of events, especially the West End-themed concert at Thornbridge Hall.

Janette said: "We had a superb evening at Thornbridge Hall on Sunday. An amazing, appreciative audience, a magical venue and top quality entertainment."

Bakewell Youth Theatre will perform its play, Bakewell Witches, each night until Saturday, August 15, with the show starting at 7pm in Bakewell Church.

A Mardi Gras parade, fireworks and outdoor music will be held on Saturday, before the festival draws to a close on Sunday night with folk music in Riverside Gardens.
