Film buffs in a Peak District village have announced a diverse range of quality movies to be shown at the village hall cinema screen this season.
Youlgrave Cinema's sixth season will launch on Friday September 12 with The Kite Runner, the multi-award-winning story of the touching relationship between two young boys in war-torn Afghanistan.

The film explores the difficult and complex emotions war can produce for citizens in everyday life.

The cinema club's season includes eight film in total and will run until May at Youlgrave Village Hall.

Highlights of the programme include the highly-acclaimed screen version of Ian McEwan's Atonement, with Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, and the Oscar-winning There Will Be Blood, featuring Daniel Day-Lewis.

Another Hollywood blockbuster, Juno, looks set to delight the village audience in early October with its bright and intelligent comedy about the trials of young motherhood.

As well as these big name films, the club has organised for some of the best art house films of the year to come to the village.

Spooky ghost flick The Haunting and French film The Diving Bell and the Butterfly – about a paralysed man's triumph in communication through blinking – are fine examples of the more unusual fare on offer this year.

Membership of Youlgrave Cinema for the whole year costs £28. This covers all eight movies, a short film before each one, a detailed programme and a glass of wine on the evening of each film. Guest tickets can be booked in advance.
