In step for a day of dancing
The streets of Bakewell came to life with music, colour and rhythm when the town hosted its fifth celebration of dance from across the globe.
Bakewell's international day of dance on Saturday got residents in the carnival spirit with over 20 different groups representing movement from across the world, workshops to introduce beginners to a range of styles and free outdoor performances across the town.
The day came to a close with a grand ceilidh in the town hall.
Groups included Nottingham Dabke Group, a Palestinian dance outfit bringing the cultural heritage of Palestine to Bakewell through a variety of Dabke performances, Well Heeled who performed energetic Appalachian style, Derbyshire Dancers and Zalesie Dance Troupe from Sheffield, with their original colourful costumes and traditional Polish dances.
One of the organisers Dianne Bradwell said over 150 people came along to the finale event in the town hall.
She added: "The event was a real success.
"There was such a nice atmosphere in the town with groups walking around in their costumes and lots of people joining in.
"It was lovely for vistors and local people to try different styles of dancing."
The Day of Dance started the town's carnival celebrations.
