A NEW kitchen has been unveiled at a Dales village hall – thanks to a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
Rowsley Village Hall Committee is celebrating following a much-needed refurbishment to its well-used community facility.

Treasurer of the committee Alan Smith, said: "This is the first major change to the village hall for a number of years. "The old kitchen was first fitted out as a school dinner's kitchen and most of the fittings and fixtures dated back to the 1950 or 1960s."

He added: "When the county council changed the way school meals were provided, the kitchen became redundant, giving us the opportunity to change the space into something more up-to-date. Major works were undertaken to bring the space up to standard.

"We now have an area that will be useable as a functions kitchen, refreshments area and meeting room or bar."
