Bakewell councillors have discussed moving a war memorial garden due to problems with drunken youths and litter louts.
At a Bakewell Town Council meeting, Cllr John Riley suggested moving the town's memorial gardens from Bath Street to parkland beside the River Wye.

The gardens – which were on privately-owned property – have been the site of alleged drinking, offensive behaviour and drug-taking.

Cllr Riley said: "They could move the flag pole and everything – there's room enough to put it down there."

Cllr Hilary Young said Derbyshire Dales District Council owned areas of the riverside parkland and any plans would need to be discussed with them.

Time was set aside to discuss the issue at Bakewell Town Council's next meeting on Monday September 15.
