Winster Wakes day was bubbling with activity this year as a week of events culminated in the carnival held on Saturday.
Taking place on historic Main Street, lined with grand 18th-century houses stalls and rides were erected to provide just the right setting
for a traditional village carnival.
The day started with a fancy dress competition and parade, led by Ashbourne Town Band. Winster Morris Dancers then kicked off the entertainment with flag throwers from Winster's twin village of Monterubbiano in Italy.
Entertainment included a display by Essential Energy School of Dance, fire-eating and children's shows. There was also a hog roast, cafés and beer at the Market House, a brass band concert and tug-o-war.
Then there was more fun on the playing field in the evening as children and adults played sports, and the younger ones enjoyed a bouncy castle, inflatable slide and a children's disco.
Everyone then danced the night away in the marquee to live music by The Fossils.
