A girl was shot in the head with an air rifle during an incident with friends at a Bakewell flat.
The female victim – who has not been named – was treated in hospital after pellets lodged in her head.

It is claimed a 17-year-old fired the gun inside the complex on The Avenue in Bakewell. The pellets were removed but her injuries were not serious.

Officers, who were unable to give the victim's age, are trying to establish whether the incident was deliberate and are gathering further statements.

Pc David Rowbotham said: "This is a serious offence that we're dealing with that has happened inside a house. It's not kids messing about."

A police spokesman said everyone who was in the property during the incident knew each other, and believed the suspect and victim had been friends.

The incident took place on April 14, but was not reported to police until Monday.

One suspect was arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
