A CARE home in Bakewell was awash with purple last week when staff held a fundraising event in aid of Kidney Research UK.
Each staff member of Burton Closes Hall Nursing Home donated a minimum of £1 to wear the colour and raised an impressive £1,000.

Denise Horobin, who is doing a sponsored run for her sister Joanne, who has kidney failure, was there to help.

She said: "It was a lovely atmosphere and the support of the staff was tremendous. Everyone was wishing me well for my run and wishing my sister well.

The event helped us reach our first milestone of £1,000 so only another £4,000 to go - and I will achieve the goal."
