CHESTERFIELD MP Toby Perkins has given his backing to the efforts of a north Derbyshire recruitment specialist during National Apprenticeship Week.
The Apprentice Team, on the first floor of Falcon Yard, at Low Pavements, Chesterfield hosted successful open days during Apprentice Week, between February 6 and February 10, for youngsters and employers.
Toby, who is the Shadow Minister for Small Businesses, said: “I am pleased organisations such as The Apprentice Team, which is spearheading Apprenticeship Week in Chesterfield, is drawing attention to the crisis facing our young people and seeking to create opportunities for them.
“In my capacity as Shadow Minister for Small Business, I am working closely with industry to promote the benefits to firms of taking on an apprentice. Bringing jobs to Chesterfield is my top priority.”
Employers also joined Mr Perkins and The Apprentice Team staff during a special lunch at the team’s offices to crown Apprenticeship Week on Friday.

Apprentice Team managing director Katie Johnstone said: “As a local business we pride ourselves on helping young people in our community.
“We hope events like this make both employers and young people more aware of the benefits and opportunities with apprenticeships.”
