Ofsted is challenged

Calls have been made to change the way schools and colleges are preparing young people for work life.

President of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, Ian Greenaway, has written to business secretary Vince Cable and education secretary Michael Gove to complain of the current failings of schools to equip their students with the skills needed to gain employment.

Mr Greenaway suggested that Ofsted look at it’s current practices and devise a new plan to ensure that young people have the best employment opportunities.

He said: It’s a sad fact of life that many of today’s school leavers are coming out of the education system with no real idea of what is expected.”
