Two officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team were out on patrol in Sawley on Thursday, March 2 – when they spotted Nigel Finch driving a silver Citroen along Tamworth Road just after 3.20pm.
They attempted to stop Finch, who they knew to be banned from driving, but the 30-year-old initially failed to stop – before pulling over a few minutes later.

Hide AdFinch, of Parkland Mews in Stanhope Street, Long Eaton, admitted driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and failing to stop at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 3.
He was sent to prison for 14 weeks, was handed a further 20-month driving ban and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
Sergeant Sarah Carlile, who leads the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is a brilliant example of our officers putting their local knowledge to good use and bringing a serial offender to justice. Having officers like these within the community is what local policing is all about.
“They knew something wasn’t right when they spotted the car and their policing instinct paid off in getting a disqualified driver off the streets.
