Fire at disused railway in Chesterfield

Crews were called to put out a fire on a disused railways line in Chesterfield.

Firefighters from the Staveley station were called to the “fire in the open” near Crompton Road in Chesterfield at around 4.10pm yesterday (February 15).

A service spokesman said the fire was at the rear of the station on a disused railway line.

Approximately 20m x 20m of the embankment was on fire.

This had already been put out before crews arrived, and the firefighters dampened down the scene.

THe stop message was received at 4.35pm.
