Hopefuls queue for hours to land leisure park jobs
Queuing for the Gullivers Kingdom jobs fair
Scores of job-hunters queued for up to seven hours in a bid to land work at a Dales leisure attraction.
Gulliver’s held a recruitment day on Saturday to fill 110 positions at its Matlock Bath theme park.
The event attracted scores of job-seekers, all hoping to land work.
Gulliver’s general manager Lee Stacey said it had been a very busy day for staff, who interviewed 172 people on Saturday.
Around 300 people had been in touch with the park about the job vacancies after they were announced last month.
Lee said: “There were long queues and some people waited six or seven hours, which just shows the dedication of the people applying.
“Although they are only seasonsal jobs, it all helps.
“It’s good news for Matlock and Matlock Bath,” he added.
Following the interviews, 80 members were taken on, with calls regarding job offers going out this week.
The remaining 30 jobs that were not filled during Saturday’s recruitment event will be filled by returning staff who have previously worked for Gulliver’s.
