£9,000 raised in memory of Kyle so far

THE friends and family of a Bradwell teenager who died in 2011 have raised almost £9,000 in his memory.

Kyle Hancock was just 18, and five weeks into a university course, when he died of sudden adult death syndrome in October 2011.

A keen footballer, Kyle played in the Derwent Valley junior football league for Bradwell Rovers, before taking over the manager role for the under-12s team, alongside his friends Calum Mackenzie and Robert Thompson, when he reached the age of 16.

A number of charity events have been held in Kyle’s memory since his death, with four of his former players raising £100 by carol singing on December 21.

A five-a-side tournament took place in Bradwell on December 27, organised by Bradwell Rovers Junior Football Club and Calum’s parents, Ken and Julie Mackenzie, which raised £101.

Since Kyle’s death, numerous charity events have been organised and £9,000 has been collected for the Kyle Hancock Memorial Fund so far.
