A couple celebrate
Golden wedding, Gill and David Mellor
A golden couple still have a shine for each other after 50 years of marriage.
Dave and Gill Mellor, of Jackson Road, Matlock, were married in All Saints’ Church, Matlock, on September 29, 1962.
Dave, 76, said: “We both worked on the railway – Gill worked in the offices and I was a relief clerk – and we met on the train going to Derby.”
Shortly after getting married. Gill gave up work, however Dave continued to work on the railways until his retirement.
They have two children, Hayley and Gavin, and two grandchildren, Zac and Archie.
The pair enjoy going to the theatre together and holidays to Blackpool.
Dave said he thought the secret of a long and happy marriage was give and take.
Gill, 71, added: “I think we have been very lucky.”
