A brand new event is heading its way to Buxton to help raise funds towards the care of terminally ill people throughout the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales.

Ashgate Hospice is giving the chance for everyone to become a superhero for the day and take on the challenge of walking or running around Buxton’s beautiful Pavilion Gardens in the Superhero 5k.

Alison Ward-Foster, Community Fundraising Manager, said: “We wanted to give the opportunity for people to do something a little different for charity and get the whole family involved.”

The sponsored event is taking place on the morning of Sunday September 21 and those taking part can choose to complete the event in whatever outfit they choose.

Alison added: “It’s entirely up to individuals what superhero they want to come as - be as imaginative as you like!

“If dressing up isn’t for you, you can still come along and take part.

“After all, we think all of our supporters are heroes in ensuring we can continue to provide vital services to local people.”

Ashgate is the second largest hospice in the East Midlands with more than 8,000 patient contacts a year.

The independent charity provides specialist care and support to local people with life limiting illnesses and their families across North Derbyshire.

By taking part in this event you could help someone in Buxton receive care and support from Ashgate Hospice.

The entry fee is just £5 and you can register online at www.ashgatehospice.org or call Ashgate Hospice fundraising team on 01246 567250.
