A greener generation
A survey carried for Green Flag found older people are the most environmentally friendly.
Amongst under 25s almost two thirds said they would rather drive on short journeys than walk. However, over 60 per cent of over 65s, questioned said they would walk.
"Most believe that the young are more environmentally conscious, and in many ways they undoubtedly are, but this survey has shown that, when it comes to motoring, they could take a few tips from the older generation," said a spokesman for the organisation.
Other findings show 97 per cent of over 45s wouldn't dream of throwing rubbish out of a car window.
