Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, which provides a vital lifeline to the High Peak, is celebrating completing its 6,000 rescue mission.

The service, which has provided potentially lifesaving care to thousands of people across the three counties since 2008, reached the milestone last Wednesday.

To celebrate, the ambulance’s paramedics, pilots and doctors are giving thanks to the volunteers who have made this possible.

Phil Bridle, critical care paramedic and airbase manager for DLRAA, said: “To reach 6,000 missions is a magnificent achievement.

“The fact that we have reached this milestone is testimony of the hard work of all of our volunteers. On behalf of all the crew, I would like to thank all of our volunteers who have made this possible and we sincerely hope that we can count on their support for years to come.”

Based at East Midlands Airport, the service covers an area of over 2,000 square miles and a population of over 1.7 million people. For more information, visit theairambulanceservice.org.uk.
