All ready for festive fun

MATLOCK town is set for a real blast from the past as organisers make the final preparations for this year’s Victorian Matlock Christmas weekend.

The event is to be held in Hall Leys Park on Saturday, December 1, and will feature over 150 stalls in heated marques.

There will be traditional craft, local produce and Christmas gifts on offer as well as festive refreshments from Matlock Rotary Club’s ever-popular mulled wine stall.

The programme also includes the Christmas lights switch-on – which this year will be performed by BBC weather presenter Anna Church.

The switch on will commence at 4.45pm and will be followed by a procession through the streets of Matlock.

Councillor Geoff Stevens, chairman of the organising Committee, said: “This years event will have something for the whole family and will act as a showcase for Matlock and Hall Leys Park.”

The weekend’s grand finale will be held on Sunday, December 2, with a firework display. Call 01629 583042 for details.
