Allyson to get young back on their bikes

TWO new PCSOs have joined the team patrolling Buxton and the surrounding area.

PCSOs Allyson Ratcliffe and Linda Cook have replaced former PCSOs Matthew Cox and Julie Shaw, who left to become regular PCs with the force.

PCSO Ratcliffe, who has more than six years’ experience as a police community support officer in Lancashire, said she was excited at the new challenge.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to getting to know the public and the people I serve, finding out what issues they have and helping to address them as best I can.

“I’m also very fond of the outdoors and cycling, so having the Peak District on the doorstep is fantastic, too.”

PCSO Ratcliffe said one of her aims was to engage with younger people and draw on her experiences as a qualified Bikeability instructor.

She added: “I’m keen to work with young people and to set up diversionary activities for them, to steer them away from anti-social behaviour.”

PCSO Cook said: “I’ve been most looking forward to meeting and engaging with the communities in Buxton and Fairfield.

“This will be a fantastic new challenge for me and I’m very proud to have got the job and be a part of Derbyshire Constabulary.”
