Anger at show entry price hike

Chatsworth Country Fair

Chatsworth Country Fair

ORGANISERS of Chatsworth Country Fair have hit back at claims that this year’s increased ticket costs are to ‘price people out’ after complaints that the show is too crowded.

In 2011 it cost visitors £15 to attend on Friday and £17 for Saturday and Sunday.

This year it costs £20 for every day of the event meaning a price increase of over 30 per cent for Friday and a rise of almost 18 per cent for the rest of the weekend.

Dedicated show-goer Gill Brookes, of Matlock, said: “I rang up to find out how much it was for this year’s event and couldn’t believe how much the price had risen by.

“I’m sad because I’ve always thought a lot of Chatsworth but the increased costs are disgraceful”

Christopher Lloyd-Owen, the Country Fair organiser, has quashed rumours about the event being too busy and says that the 300 acre site offers visitors ‘plenty of room to roam’.

On the reason for the increase, Christopher said: “We believe the Chatsworth Country Fair represents great value for money as the biggest and best event of its type in the country.

“In recent years we have made a considerable investment in high quality, spectacular attractions such as the Red Arrows and celebrity chefs like James Martin whilst continuing to offer free entry to under-14s and significant online discounts to visitors.”

Owing to these investments, organisers have had to review the price of tickets but have tried to keep it to the minimum.

Christopher said: “Chatsworth Country Fair compares very favourably with similar events - it is a wonderful day out for all the family with plenty to see and do across the 300 acre site.”
