A MATLOCK teenager has been handed an ASBO to restrict what he can do in public.

Daniel Hancock was issued with the two-year ant-social behaviour order after he was charged with an assault in Wirksworth on September 14 last year.

Under the terms of the ASBO, North East Derbyshire and Dales magistrates have ordered that he must not act or incite others to act in an anti-social manner, causing or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons anywhere within the Derbyshire Dales; spit or use verbal abuse towards any person not of the same household as himself; gather in a public place in a group of two or more persons in a manner likely to cause any person to fear for their safety; consume alcohol in any public place in Derbyshire that is not a public house.

Hancock, of Chesterfield Road, Matlock, could face a fine or up to five years in prison if he is found breaking any of those stipulations during the lifetime of the ASBO, which expires on November 6, 2014.

Police are urging members of the public to report any instances of Daniel Hancock breaking the terms of his anti-social behaviour order.

The ASBO was granted on application by Derbyshire Constabulary, in consultation with Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, Derbyshire Dales District Council and Dales Housing Association.

Anyone wanting to report the breach of an ABSO or report incidents of anti-social behaviour should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always dial 999.
