The event at Peak Rail, in Rowsley, will include a selection of re-enactments and performances to mark the era.

Attractions such as an air raid shelter, make-do-and-mend exhibits, weapons from World War Two, a selection of military and civilian vehicles, stalls and children's games.

Visitors should also look out for much-loved Prime Minster, Winston Churchill and Lady Randolph Churchill who will be making impromptu morale boosting speeches.

This year the station, off Harrison Way, will be hosting a number of new displays including exhibitions from Independent Field Company, North Staffordshire MVT Group, Airborne Eagles, a selection of motorcycles and the Spirit of the Forties display of 1940s pedal cycles.

Throughout the day entertainment will be on offer in the marquee provided by entertainer Paul Harper and Marian May. Activities for the younger visitors will include sewing and bead threading and deciphering semaphore messages.

Dove Holes Brass Band will be playing a selection of 1940s hits and dancing will be taking place.

On Sunday a 1940s style wedding will be taking place and there will be traditional Punch and Judy sideshows for children.

Visitors young and old, steam buffs or war historians can expect a unique atmosphere of nostalgia and energy as well as unlimited steam train travel all day, between both stations.
