A Matlock group has celebrated give glorious years with a party.

Matlock Area U3A (University of the Third Age) celebrated its fifth birthday at Matlock Golf Club.

The group began in September 2007 with a meeting of the local 50+ Forum, organised by Maudie Behrens. Two weeks later, a steering committee was elected at a public meeting and the work of recruitment began, under the leadership of Frank Hemming and a small dedicated team.

The organisations arranges activities such as scrabble, mah–jong, bridge, folk–dancing, tap–dancing, gardening and bowls.
