The body of a man found in a reservoir is believed to be that of a missing Clay Cross pensioner.

A member of the public called police at about 3pm on Saturday after spotting the body in Ogston Reservoir near Clay Cross.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said this morning: “Yesterday afternoon someone contacted us to say they were concerned for the safety of a family member, a 71-year-old man from Clay Cross, who had gone missing.

“We believe the body which was found in the reservoir is his but a formal identification is yet to take place.
