Car thefts in Hope Valley
Police are urging motorists to remove valuables from their cars following a number of thefts in the Hope Valley.
Since the start of September police have received 10 reports of cars being broken into in the Edale, Bamford and Castleton areas.
The latest incidents happened sometime between 11am and 2.50pm on Sunday, September 16.
Two vehicles were broken into while they were parked at a car park near the Blue John Cavern, at Castleton. Cash and a camera were stolen.
PC Tony O’Brien of the Hope Valley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We would like to remind motorists to make sure they remove any valuable items, such as mobile phones, cameras, sat nav systems and wallets from their vehicles and to always make sure they left securely and that windows are closed.
“Officers are making enquiries about these incidents and I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact us.”
Anyone with information about these crimes should call Derbyshire police on 101, the non emergency number, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
