CCG gets go-ahead to take over healthcare

The NHS North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group has been given the go-ahead to take over the responsibility for healthcare from April.

Led by local GPs and clinicians, the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has received full authorisation as a statutory NHS organisation to take on the role of planning and purchasing health services for High Peak patients.

This includes planned and emergency hospital care, rehabilitation, most community services and mental health and learning disability services.

CCGs are required to go through a rigorous assessment carried out by the NHS Commissioning Board which tests them against a set of 119 criteria.

NHS North Derbyshire CCG has been authorised with no conditions, meaning that it fully met all the criteria.

Dr Ben Milton, Chair of NHS North Derbyshire CCG, said: “Receiving authorisation after such a rigorous assessment is great news for our patients.

“We have demonstrated that we are fit for purpose and can now push on with our plans to improve the health of our population with an approach that is patient-focused, clinically led and evidence based.”

The CCG represents 38 GP practices in: High Peak, Chesterfield, Dronfield, North Dales and North East Derbyshire
