Darley Dale: Campaign launched

editorial image

The start of a new year in flowers was marked by paying tribute to an historic Dales personality.

Darley Dale in Bloom launched its 2013 campaign by laying flowers at the memorial of Sir Joseph Whitworth in Whitworth Park.

The drive to brighten up the community will have Sir Joseph as a theme in 2013 as it seeks to involve residents, schools and businesses in planting flower beds and tubs, improving play areas and keeping streets free from litter.

Chairman Trish Ingham said: “Last year was a really good start for Darley Dale in Bloom, but we need to build on that success and encourage more organisations and individuals to become involved.”

Other committee members present were David and June Lathrope, Barbara Newton and Will Martin. To get involved in Darley Dale in Bloom call Trish on 01629 735248 or email townclerk@darleydale.gov.uk
