Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair gathers support

Derbyshire’s premier culinary celebration has been given a further boost with the announcement of another major sponsor.

Stall bookings are filling up fast for Derbyshire County Council’s annual Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair at Hardwick Hall on May 26 and 27.

With more than 10,000 people again expected to visit it offers local producers and suppliers the chance to promote their goods and highlight their businesses to local people and tourists.

McArthurGlen East Midlands Designer Outlet is the latest company to back the fair by sponsoring its cookery theatre, where TV celebrity chef Simon Rimmer will join leading local cooks to stage demonstrations.

Midlands Cooperative Society has already given its backing for a third successive year by sponsoring the gate.

The main role of title sponsor is still available, together with other opportunities as contributing sponsors.

Councillor Kevin Parkinson, Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “We’re grateful to the sponsors who have already given their backing to our annual celebration of the fantastic food and drink which Derbyshire has to offer.

“With 10,000 people again expected to come through the gates during the weekend it is a superb opportunity for producers and sponsors to showcase what they do.

“Our food and drink fair helps the county’s economy and I’d strongly urge businesses to consider supporting the popular event.”

Around 150 stalls are expected to showcase the best of Derbyshire produce as well as exotic foods from further afield.

There will be a range of entertainment for the whole family including live music, competitions and face painting.

The popular arts and crafts section is expected to host 50 local artists displaying their wares which will range from contemporary art to traditional craftworks.

Businesses are reminded to return their booking forms as soon as possible because plots are selling fast.
