Development bids revealed

The five redevelopment proposals for the centre of Matlock being debated by council chiefs are as follows –

n Henry Davidson Developments has submitted a bid that includes a food store and five retail units.

The plans included six duplex apartments, 273 car parking spaces, a hotel and restaurant.

The bid makes no plans for the other side of Bakewell Road, except to suggest that it could include a cafe and leisure facilities in the future.

n Litton Properties proposed three small retail units fronting onto Bakewell Road, as well as four other units.

A food store was proposed with parking for 68 cars underneath and a 50 bed hotel with restaurant area.

The developer also suggested creating a civic and library area on the other side of Bakewell Road.

n Norseman Holdings proposed a 60 bed hotel with public house and restaurants, as well as seven retail units.

The developer indicated there was interest from businesses including Wilkinsons, Poundland Brighthouse, pizza Express, Boots and Aldi.

The bid also included a 30 unit retirement development.

n Morbaine suggested a stand alone food store with 77 car parking spaces.

There would be an additional retail unit of 4,200 sqft and offices. A new bus depot was also proposed.

A mixed use development was proposed on the other side of Bakewell Road, with a public quare in between.

n Henry Boot Developments’ bid included a food store as well as three retail units and office space.

It featured a public square and 201 new car parking spaces on the roof – forming an extension to the existing Coop car park.

A 75 bed hotel was mentioned along with additional leisure and community space, such as a library, tourist information centre and extension to the Imperial Rooms.
