Doors and bonnet stolen from Land Rover

POLICE are appealing for information after a Land Rover owner woke to discover thieves had stolen the doors and bonnet from his vehicle.

The five-door Land Rover Defender was parked in Whitfield Cross, Glossop, when it was targeted.

Its green doors and bonnet were taken but the rear door, which has company branding on it, was left untouched.

The offence took place overnight between 6pm on Thursday, January 24 and 7.45am the following morning.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “Land Rovers are often targeted by thieves because they retain their value and can be stripped relatively easily and sold on for parts.

“We urge members of the public to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell on green Land Rover parts as replacements or for scrap, and to contact us if you suspect anything.

“You can also take steps to protect your vehicle, too. Make sure you park in a secure, well-lit area and guard it with kit such as a steering wheel lock.

“You can also mark your Land Rover with special UV liquid such as SmartWater or Selecta DNA.

“Then if your vehicle or parts of it are stolen and later recovered, police can trace the items back to you.”

Anyone with information on the theft should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
