The historic centrepiece of a new retirement park has officially reopened following extensive restoration work.

Audley’s St. Elphin’s House, located in St Elphin’s Park retirement village, Darley Dale, is now open.

A grand opening event was held to mark the occasion, which was attended by Nick Sanderson, chief executive of Audley Retirement, Lord Edward Manners, Derbyshire High Sheriff Alan Woods, Cllr George Wharmby, chairman of Derbyshire County Council and Ingrid Pasteur, Mayor of Darley Dale.

The historic property dates back to 1820, starting out as a Victorian health spa before becoming a girls’ boarding school.

St Elphin’s House offers eight apartments, each individually designed to retain character charm and style, complete with period detailing.

Once completed, the 44 acre park will feature 127 retirement properties available to purchase for those aged over 55.

Mr Sanderson said: “We’re pleased to be opening the doors to St Elphin’s House.

“It’s very rewarding for all of us at Audley Retirement to be able to bring back to life another beautiful property for the local community to enjoy.”

Audley St Elphin’s Park will host preview days where visitors can view the stunning new show apartment and four of the properties on sale on September and 26 and 28th.
