A police inspector has issued a warning to people over con-artists who pose as doorstep sellers to trick their way into homes.
Inspector Russell Dakin, of the Community Safety team in Amber Valley, said people should always ask to see a person’s pedlars’ certificate and use security measures – such as door chains – to combat such crimes.
He said: “While we don’t want to scare people unnecessarily, we are asking people to take precautions.”
