Dragon art winners

Hall Leys Park erupted into life with a dash of magic and splash of sunshine as Matlock Festival stormed into town.

With a world village market, funfair, live music and a whole host of children’s activities – it’s safe to say a good time was had by all.

However, the hottest topic over the weekend was arguably the long-awaited Draw a Dragon competition results.

Scooping the first prize was six-year-old Theo Donaldson, of Matlock, who took home the beautifully illustrated book – Drake’s Comprehensive Compendium of Dragonology – and a magic dragon box.

Lucky runners-up were, Imogen Donaldson, 9, Emma Parker, 8, Lily Wyatt, 9, and Lottie Wyatt, 5, who also received a magical dragon box.

Jayne Russell, Market Square Group, said: “Everybody had a great time.”
