Drivers are being urged to take extra care on the roads this morning amid icy conditions.

A number of routes across Derbyshire are covered in black ice after near-freezing temperatures overnight.

There are hazardous driving conditions on the A619 Chesterfield Road in both directions in Barlborough between the New Road junction and the B6043 junction because of ice.

The Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be prepared’ warning of ice across Derbyshire.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “The public is advised to take extra care and be aware of the potential for some localised disruption to transport.”

The alert lasts until 10am today.
