Derbyshire fire service has issued an urgent warning to motorists, as more heavy downpours, gale-force winds and localised flooding are expected - especially in the Peak District.
Some Derbyshire roads have already been flooded by the amount of rain that has fallen in the last 24 hours.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people of the following safety advice:
Drive to the road conditions. Puddles may be deeper than they appear. Please don’t take any unnecessary risks.
If you are experiencing flooding in your home – get yourself to a place of safety, maybe upstairs. If you are taking any medication take this with you.
Do not exit your property if there is fast flowing water outside.
If you think you are at risk of flooding – visit the Environment Agency for advice and guidance www.environment-agency.gov.uk or call your local council.
Before calling 999, consider – How urgent is your call?
