Friends of Buxton Festival have raised £38,610 in recent months to support the renowned opera, music and literary summer event.

In early 2012 Buxton Festival received the good news from the Arts Council of England that the organisation had been successful in their application for a grant to enable match- funding.

The new fund enabled the Festival to match individual donations one-for-one which in effect doubled the amount raised from the Friends.

The appeal is open until March 2014 and any donations made before this date will also be matched by the Arts Council.

Randall Shannon, the Festival’s Executive Director, said: “The support of individuals is increasingly important to us and this encouraging response to the Arts Council’s initiative will help support our exciting plans for the future”.

Louise Potter added “I am immensely proud to chair the Friends organisation whose loyal supporters helped to raise this fantastic amount for such a wonderful Festival’.

David Heugh, the new Director of Fundraising for the Festival, would be delighted to meet individuals and businesses to discuss ways to support the wide range of events and outreach projects during the Festival and throughout the year.

lBuxton Festival will take place from the 5th to the 21st of July 2013.
