Fun times at Pilsley village fair
Community spirit was in the air in Pilsley last weekend, when residents and visitors enjoyed the annual village fair.
Opened on the sunny afternoon of Saturday, July 10, by the Duke of Devonshire, children and adults enjoyed an assortment of amusements including a float procession, fancy dress, may pole dancing, stalls, music from the Hathersage Band, and a raffle and tombola.
The new Queen of the fair Imogen Dowding was handed over her crown by former royalty Georgia Adams alongside her new attendant Alfie Rhodes.
A barbecue was held in the evening as The Likely Ones provided more live music.
Resident Liz Bradshaw, who was involved in dressing the village wells said the event had a good turnout.
"We were lucky with the weather and we had a lot of visitors coming in," she said.
"It was a warm evening so we were able to sit outside with a picnic.
She added: "It was Claire Hanbury's first year as Chair and she did a fantastic job. She said it was a team effort but you always need someone at the helm.
"It was a lot of hard work but a lot of fun."
