Graffiti clean up

editorial image

Volunteers have been hard at work removing graffiti from a street in Wirksworth in time for its annual arts festival.

Just before the Wirksworth Festival, which begins next week, vandals attacked Blind Lane near the centre of the historic town.

Volunteers Anton Shone and Nathan Cooke set to work with anti–graffiti solution to remove the offending articles.

Neil Fergusan–Lee, from Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, said: “It is a key route from the station to the town centre and Anton decided that we could not allow our town to be despoiled so close to this key cultural event.

“After consulting with the town council, he used some of the railway’s supply of anti–graffiti paint to supplement the town council’s supply to ensure that Blind Lane was returned to pristine condition.”
